I chose what I did for my portfolio to show what I am capable of in many elements. One for the arts, one for creative writing and another for academic views. This shows an all around focus on my skills in different levels
To show growth I pick two pieces of my math work to show how my studying skills and understanding as improved. Math has been a struggle in the beginning of the year so I think it’s important to portray that into my portfolio. These pieces show my improvement in the way I take notes in Math class. The first piece is a worksheet from the beginning of the year. I struggled in this piece because I wasn’t prepared for the lesson. The second math piece is recent work. It is another worksheet about Trigonometry. On this assignment I knew how to set up my notes for the lesson and it made it easier to do the work.
I also chose to include my True New York poem to showcase my strengths as a writer. In this poem I chose to write about Lombardi’s in Little Italy. I used the technique of incorporating my five senses to capture a different perspective on a pizza parlor. I am proud of this poem because it shows how I express myself through different writing styles and it was a way to show something you can’t see right away.
In the future I plan to work on my organization so all of my work is handed-in on time with the most effort I can give. I’ll plan to set up my work in advance so when I get to class, I am prepared. This way I can stay on task throughout the whole year.
